BBC One - Hippos Ident Length This ident lasts about 31 seconds long, which is a bit long but it will give the announcer enough time to tell he audience what show will be aired next. The reason in which the ident is this long is because it’s a fun ident that grabs the attentions of the audience members. Simplicity/complexity of the ident This ident is kind of simply but also complex at the same time, with a lot of different shots being used and the editing techniques used but then at the end you have the key theme that is involved in all of the idents. Describing what happens and its design The ident begins with a few close ups shots, and different angles of the hippos and there under sea habitat. Then some mid shots of the hippos playing around and then it shows the hippos start to swim to the surface using a tilt shot, showing the sun raise coming though as they recreate the iconic theme. How the target audience is shown The fact that the BBC One is using animals instead of what previous ident have used this means that they are trying to attract a larger target audience as the BBC One can. The ident also shows that BBC One doesn’t only can about what happens above ground, it also care about what happens under the sea, showing a happy pod of hippos full of life and healthy. The purpose of the ident The main purpose of the ident is to act as a short break between the different programmes that will be played; it also gives the audience members a second to prepare themselves for the next program that they are going to be watching. This will make the audience member more enticed to watch the channel more. How the ident reflects the corporate identity BBC One's corporate identity is based around a wide variety of content and Intel and a broad target audience. The ident shows this through the new surrounding so the many sign of diversity of the channel and the channels target audience. The ident uses unique surrounding and a mix of different shots to show the ident. The BBC One is a very strong and leading channel, this can be shown by the animal that they have chosen to be in the ident, the reason in which this is a strong channel and ident is because of its history and that it’s the longest running channel on British television. E4 Ident - Beach Length This ident lasts about 20 seconds long, which isn’t that long but it’s still enough time for the announcer to tell the audience members what they will be shown next. This ident isn’t boring for the audience due to the length and it keeps to the point, so that the audience members and keep to the enjoyment of their regular programmes that they watch because there isn’t a larger gap for them to get bored and change channel. Simplicity/complexity of the ident The ident is very complex, as there are a lot of things going on in the ident there is a lot to look at, so for example at the begin there’s a bear reading the paper and another fall out the boat, there only one shot used which is an tracking shot. Describing what happens and its design The ident begins with a two bears in a little raft, one is reading a paper and one is fishing, then the bear that is fishing gets pulled into the water and then the entire beach becomes alive. The shoot then ends up with a big E4 logo of flowers; the ident is straight to the point as this is a comedy so it has weird and strange stuff. How the target audience is shown The target audience is shown through the comedic show that is presented in the ident and imagery of the ident which is show through the type of humour that the channel televises to its target audience. How the ident reflects that corporate identity The ident reflects E4 a wacky and comedic nature which ties into their corporate identity. The ident also features the channel's logo hidden throughout the ident and on the main imagery; this can be show as in the hair dressers chairs they have the E4 logo as people. How the target audience is shownITV Winter 2013 Ident: Pug-wash Length This ident is the same length as a previous example that i have used, as it is 31 seconds long.Which is a bit long but it will give the announcer enough time to tell he audience what show will be aired next. Simplicity/complexity of the ident This ident is very simple in the way that it only using 1 shot and that shot is a mid shot, and this is already forced on the main image. Describing what happens and its design The main thing that happens in this ident, is that a Pug is having a wash in the sink in a kitchen, with a woman washing him wearing pink gloves. How the target audience is shown The target audience is shown through this cute pug with a sort of classy back ground but this reflects the kind of lifestyle that ITV believes that their target audience to have. The dog represents a family which then links in with ITV family channel nature. The purpose of the ident The main purpose of the ident is to act as a short break between the different programmes that will be played; it also gives the audience members a second to prepare themselves for the next program that they are going to be watching. This will make the audience member more enticed to watch the channel more. Similarly to BBC One, ITV has a corporate identity centred around airing a broad range and variety of content, however ITV focuses more on the lifestyle and way of living of their target audience, which is reflected by this ident that reflects the lifestyle ideas that ITV believes represents the some of the interests and lifestyle of their target audience
